Camping
Each year Brookwood Scouts offer a series of camps, as
does Woking District. These camps range from Patrol camping to Troop
camps and also some opportunities
to go leightweight camping.
Brookwood Scouts tend try to offer camping om a regular
basis. The camps will tend to be either a training camp or an activity
one. In the past we have build pioneering structures, been hiking
and even constructed a clay oven to make our evening meal of home made
pizza.

Each year district orginise a series of Competitons that
double up as camps:
The first one of the year is the Leightweight Competition
that integrates both two days of walking with an overnight stay. The
scouts are assessed on there walking, camping and cooking of Dehydrated
food. In the past Brookwood Scouts have won this event. This event usually
takes place in mid March
The second weekend that the District orinise follows
straight on from the Lightweight and takes place during the first Bank
holiday in May, when we head off to Brecon for a weekend of lightweight
camping and walking in the Brecon Beacons.
The final event of the camping season orginised by District
takes place usually in mid-June and incorporates two seperate competitions
a standng camp and also the cooking competition. Scouts are assessed
on their camping standards and take part in a series of games and activities
over the weekend. On the Saturday night they take part in an open fire
cooking competition when the Scouts cook and present a meal that they
have devised themselves and then cooked over a wooden stove fire.
Being well placed in any of the camps allows them to
go on and take place in the County Events.
